8', 3/2 1985 limited edition "The Amabilis" commemorative bamboo fly rod. Thomas and Thomas did a Limited Edition Series of bamboo rods from 1979 through 1994. Serial number 13 of approximately 20. This commemorative rod pays tribute to "Tonkin" bamboo" Arundinaria amabilis, which is the Latin name for this species of bamboo. This rod weighs 4.9 oz. on our digital scale and will cast a 5 weight line. Cigar cork grip. The reel seat has a burled walnut insert with highly engraved nickel silver cap and ring hardware as are the ferrules. In a recent conversation with Tom Dorsey, he told us that the engraving was done by an Italian gunsmith. Carefully hand scripted in white ink on the swelled butt is "#13", "The Amabilis - 1985 - Ltd. Edition". Each section also has "#13" inked on it. Richly flamed bamboo. Tan thread wraps tipped in plum. Includes original stitched leather tube with Thomas and Thomas logo. The tube has engraved brass caps on both ends, protective cloth bag for the tube and original cloth bag with stiffener. This rod is mint un-fished condition.  Priced reduced.
