This is Everett Garrison’s personal light salmon rod as pictured on page 149 of A Master’s Guide to Building A Bamboo Fly Rod copyright 1977. This book was authored by Everett Garrison and Hoagy B. Carmichael.
Everett used this rod to catch a 22 pound Atlantic salmon, his largest ever caught. It is pictured on page 148 of the same book along with the schematic of the grip and reel seat of this rod.
Garrison model 221, serial number K-89-2 crafted in 1967, weighing 6 oz. This is the second rod of this model Mr. Garrison built in 1967.
This fine example of Everett’s craftsmanship is in excellent condition. The thread wraps are clear silk. It has a Perfection stripping guide and Perfection bronze snake guides. One tip top is wrapped green and the other red to differentiate the tips. The downlocking nickel silver and aluminum hardware reel seat has a cedar wood insert. It is fitted with Super Z nickel silver ferrules. The ferrule plug has a string loop which attaches to the rod bag loop. This rod has a 2 ½ inch long permanent butt extension.
This rod has never left the possession of the Garrison family. We are offering it for sale on their behalf. Per the family’s instructions, this rod will not be sold to a museum, only to an individual who will honor its historical significance and fishability.
Included are the original cloth bag and aluminum tube. The rod is in excellent condition.

Due to the rarity and value of this rod, the normal 3day inspection period is rescinded. The rod is available for inspection to qualified prospective purchasers, by appointment at our shop in Denver. Additional images will be provided upon request.
