Wright & McGill Company to wrap their bamboo rods. This vintage thread has
been stored in bags in a smoke-free area.

Rice’s Black & Orange
Jasper Silk Thread 00
The wooden spools contain 3/4 oz. of
thread or approximately 1100 yards of size 00, silk black and orange jasper thread. This is the
original Rice’s thread used on Wright & McGill Victory bamboo rods. Black
and orange jasper was used by many bamboo rod builders including South
Bend, Heddon, etc. Use this thread on newly crafted rods or when restoring
old bamboo fly rods. Michael Sinclair’s reference number is B&O #XX.

Wrapping Thread Black & White Jasper
The wooden spools contain 3/4 oz. of
thread or approximately 1100 yards of size 00, silk black and white jasper thread. This is the
original Rice’s thread used on Wright & McGill bamboo rods including The
Goodwin Rod, The Granger Rod, Favorite, and De Luxe models. It was used on
the Phillipson Paramount from 1946 to 1952. Black and white jasper was used
by many bamboo rod builders on various models including South Bend, Heddon,
etc. Use this thread on newly crafted rods or when restoring old bamboo fly

Special, Denver Special, Champion and Stream & Lake models. This red was

Rice’s Beige Tan
Silk 0 Wrapping Thread Size 00
The wooden spools contain 3/4 oz. of
thread or approximately 1100 yards of size 00, silk tan/beige thread.
This is the original Rice’s thread used on Wright & McGill bamboo rods
including the Aristocrat model. This tan/beige was used by many bamboo
rod builders. Use this thread on newly crafted rods or when restoring

Rice’s Maroon Silk
Wrapping Thread Size 00
The wooden spools contain 3/4 oz. of
thread or approximately 1100 yards of size 00, silk maroon thread. This is the original Rice’s
thread used on Wright & McGill bamboo rods including the Water Seal models.
This thread was the primary wrap for the FA model and tipping for the FB
model. Use this thread on newly crafted rods or when restoring old bamboo
fly rods. This maroon silk thread looks very good on graphite rods
when finished with epoxy and no color preserver. Michael Sinclair’s

Holland green and black jasper, size C, color code 61 - black, 100
yards for $10.00
Most
Master model Phillipson rods used green and black jasper nylon thread.
Some Master rods were wrapped with a spiral and others had a white ring.

Holland Pacific green nylon, size A, color code 495, 100 yards $10.00 According to our Phillipson specifications, in 1963, this thread was
used on the Peerless model bamboo rod which had a short spiral wrap of the
same color. It was also used on Phillipson's Salmon and Steelhead Bamboo Spinning
and Mooching rod which was crafted from 1949 to 1954. This Pacific green nylon was used on various fiberglass model rods.

Belding Corticelli Nymo, Nylon, Henna color #1224, size A, 100 yards $10.00 This thread was used on Phillipson Peerless bamboo rods with a white ring.

Belding Corticelli Nymo, Nylon, Turf Tan color # 1248, size A, 75 yards
$15.00. This thread was used on Phillipson Peerless bamboo rods with
an open spiral and yellow tipping.
Older vinyl thread was used on earlier models from the 1950’s to early
1960’s. Inventory to follow.
