7'6", 3/2 Tournament model 49 dry fly. Pre-fire. Line weight 4/5. Weighing 3 1/2 oz. Cigar cork grip measuring 4 1/2 inches. Down-sliding nickel silver cap and ring over butternut insert. Nickel silver ferrules with patent dates of Oct. 26, 1875 and Sept. 3, 1878. Ferrule sizes 10 and 15. Tan silk thread wraps agate stripper guide. Gently swelled butt. Includes original cloth bag and Leonard brass capped replacement tube for an 8' rod. Notice Ray Bergman's label on the tube. This rod was sold by Ray Bergman from his fly shop in Nyack, New York to his friend, neighbor and fishing partner, Ezra Cole. Mr. Cole was a famous numismaticist and philatelist. After you have decided to keep the rod, you will receive a copy of Ray Bergman's 1943 catalog from his Angling Specialties fly shop in Nyack, N. Y. Although the ferrules are loose on the blanks, the rod is sound and is worthy of a full restoration by Steve Blake for approximately $500. Rods such as this usually sell for the mid $3000's in excellent condition. Purchaser will be provided with provenance pertaining to Ray Bergman and Mr. Cole.
